2025 Hall of Fame: Innovation in Pharmaceutical Supply Chain

UNICEF and the TRVST Revolution in Pharmaceutical Supply Chains

The Gold Standard of Health Logistics In the pharmaceutical supply chain, innovation is a matter of life and death. At the 2025 Pan African Supply Chain Awards, we set out to find a solution that wasn’t just “new,” but one that was truly transformative.

We found that in UNICEF, our winner for Best Innovation in Pharmaceutical Supply Chain. Represented by Max Kabalisa, UNICEF’s pioneering initiative, TRVST, serves as the perfect example of what this category represents.

Why TRVST Won: A Blueprint for Success To win in this category, an initiative must meet a rigorous set of criteria. UNICEF’s TRVST excelled across all four:

  1. Novelty & Originality: As a digital solution designed to combat counterfeit pharmaceuticals and enhance transparency, TRVST introduced a truly original way to verify the authenticity of life-saving products.
  2. Significant Impact: It isn’t just a tool; it’s a safeguard for the continent’s most vulnerable populations, ensuring safe, quality-assured products reach every child.
  3. Feasibility & Scalability: Designed for the real world, TRVST is a collaborative movement involving governments, manufacturers, and global partners, proving it can be implemented across diverse African markets.
  4. Cost-Effectiveness: By creating a solution that can be adopted by a wide range of organizations, UNICEF ensured that the barrier to entry for safety is lowered for everyone.

Calling All Innovators: The 2026 Nominations Are you a Ministry of Health, a private sector disruptor, or a non-profit leader? If you have implemented a pharmaceutical solution that is novel, impactful, scalable, and cost-effective, your work belongs on our stage.

We are looking for the next “TRVST.” We want to celebrate innovations that are not just technological leaps, but collective efforts to strengthen health systems across Africa.
